    3. Edna; The YDNA remains essentially the same from Father to son over time, with minor mutations occasionally. Therefore, I, as the son of my father have the same YDNA as my father, and my sons have that same YDNA. My daughters did not receive my YDNA, because YDNA follows the male line only. MTDNA is passed from ones' mother, so I and my sister received my Mother's MTDNA and my sister passed that same MTDNA to her children, while my children received the MTDNA from my wife. The Scientist therefore tell us that we can essentially assume that my male direct line ancestors of my surname have essentially the same YDNA that I do.
