His father, Asa (1796-1833), was born and died in eastern Kentucky, as did his mother Mary "Polly" Gorman (b. 1800). Siblings include William (b. 1817), Catherine (b. 1819), Robert T.--my great-great grandfather (1829-1891), and Sidney (b. 1833). Another probable brother is Thompson Alexander (1820-1907).
