I wonder if you could cast your mind back. My maiden name is Baker and I have just found out that an uncle (born 1849) emigrated to Illinois from Meare in Somerset, and his son was Horace, who was a Judge and Mayor of El Paso in the early part of the 20th century. Does this ring a bell? If so we are very distantly related. Apparently they also opened a law firm called Baker and Baker. I'd be very interested in finding distant relatives in the States.
