Second wife came to America. She was 15 years younger than Hugh. My GGGGrandfather was John Alexander who was born around 1764 but we are not sure exactly when or where. We know he was in Philadelphia, PA in the 1790s. Had a son, William, in 1796. John was a carpenter according to Phila. street directories. Many John Alexanders came to America back then and I am still looking for proof of which one was my ancestor. I hope some of this info might help you. If you have any ancestors that were in Philadelphia or know anything about the John Alexander, son of Hugh, who was on the ship list, I would appreciate it if you would share that information with me. Thank you, Joan
Just wanted to pass this along, since I just found out about it today. Mt. Olivet Cemetery, the large Methodist Cemetery in Baltimore city has a searchable database of all the burials as well as detailed maps on line! This site is terrific and is easy to search in many different ways. So many will find this useful. Thanks to the person who created this database! It is so helpful, a great asset. www.lovelylane.net/mtolivetcemetery.htm

I wonder if you could cast your mind back. My maiden name is Baker and I have just found out that an uncle (born 1849) emigrated to Illinois from Meare in Somerset, and his son was Horace, who was a Judge and Mayor of El Paso in the early part of the 20th century. Does this ring a bell? If so we are very distantly related. Apparently they also opened a law firm called Baker and Baker. I'd be very interested in finding distant relatives in the States. Kind regards Karen Dummett Blackwood, South Wales, UK

She had battled lung disease for a number of years and at 4 0' clock in the morning, God called her home and reunited her with her beloved husband of 62 years, Dominic. Pat G. (as she was called by many friends) was born in Coalinga. California. in 1924 to Laurence and Betty Alexander. Patsy, as she was affectionately called during her childhood, grew up in Los Angeles. As a child she loved to sing and dance and was a member of the "'Meglin Kiddies" theater group. Pat graduated from John Marshall High School and before the outbreak of World War II she met and fell in love with Dominic Giangregorio. They married on June 27, 1942, not long after Dominic enlisted in the Army. Pat followed her new husband to a training base in Texas and returned to Los Angeles when he was shipped overseas. During the wa! r years she worked as a mail clerk in the aircraft industry. Upon her husband's return from the war they started married life in earnest on Potomac Street in Los Angeles. There Gary, the eldest of the boys, was born. Pat and Dom moved shortly thereafter to Hastings Ranch in Pasadena and Greg and Grant followed to round out their family. Pat was an active member and fundraiser for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and school in Pasadena. She also volunteered countless hours to the Hastings Ranch Guild of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as well as being a hardworking volunteer at Rosemary's Cottage in Pasadena. Along with her husband, Pat was an avid bridge player and golfer. Together they traveled the world playing golf with friends and enjoying each other's company. She was a member of Annandale Golf Club in Pasadena, Ironwood Country Club in Palm Desert, and the Colony Golf Club in Murrieta. Preceding her in death are her husband, Dominic, and grands! on, Todd, her mother, Betty, her father, Laurence, and her stepfather, Thomas Quinn. Pat was a wonderful mother delighting in her sons and, later, their families. She is survived by her three sons, Gary, Greg and Grant; daughters-in-law Laurie and Kathy, and her grandchildren, Nica, Brent and Andrea. A memorial celebration of her life will be held at Arcadia Gardens Retirement Home, 720 West Camino Real in Arcadia on Saturday, July 15, at 4:30 p.m. Pierce Brothers Simone DuBois Mortuary, assisting the family.
