Author: Mary_Brunton Surnames: Brunton Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.alexander/6168/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am currently searching for connections to James Henry Brunton. He was born ~ 1874 in East Dereham, the son of James and Mary Ann (nee Wasenett) Brunton. James Brunton's parents were Benjamin and Hannah Brunton. James Henry married Annie Maud Falkner in 1896 and lived in Aldershot, Hampshire. I have some information about 2 of the children; Henry George (my husband's father) and Olive Dorothy. I am interested in any information about the remaining children; some of the names I have are Annie Gertrude, Phyliss Joan, Emily May, Elsie Maud, Dick and Jim. I am also interested in any other information regarding the Brunton Family. Does this Brunton line tie in with any information you have? Author: rogeralexanderr Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.alexander/6165.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Diana, So far I am the only one who has a paper trail to James the weaver to be tested. I was 35/37 of a tester who speculates he a James the weaver heir. One other tester is close to us and he is 35/37 compared to me, and he has a brick wall 5 generations back. Another James the weaver tester has just upgraded to 37 markers because we were 23/25. Another verified heir has just ordered tests this week. Four Samuel heirs have tested and they average about 23/37 compared to me. We just got the results of our first Joseph the tanner guy and he is real close to the Samuels thus not to the James the weavers. So only 3 of the 7 "brothers" have thus far been tested. Now all of this is not a portion of the Alexander DNA Project, of which there are about 50 current members who are simply all Alexander surname testers who opt to have their results posted at the site. Rather this 7 brothers effort is an informal email group of about 35 who descend just from the 7 2. And it is for this group that I started this thread, not for the Alexander DNA Project which I happen to co-administrate. If you would like to email me, [email protected] I hopes this helps to answer you. I am sorry to have confused anyone. Please reply and I will try to clarify. Author: IshtaHota Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.alexander/6165.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Cousins, I am also descended from James the Weaver, Moses, James, Matthew, Thomas, Lafayette Randolph Alexander...of Webster Co, MO. I am very familiar with how the DNA programs work...I am involved in several. I have not paid for my father to be tested for the Alexander program as I try to only get family members from my brick wall lines into DNA programs in the hopes of helping my research along....and since I always pay for the tests...it runs into quite a bit of money. I can get my dad tested but am still wondering what exactly is going on...guess I need to read thru the webpage! Is James the Weaver not matching the other so-called Alexander 7 brothers? Are all 7 brothers represented? Does the results so far lead you to believe James the Weaver is not part of the 7 brothers group? How many DNA samples are known to be from James the Weaver? I will try to get to the results webpage today and read the results for myself. Best regards, Diana Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: rogeralexanderr Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.alexander/6165.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Diana, The DNA program is simply a site where Alexander DNA testers can have their results posted for the public to see. The site has been managed by Larry Alexander for a number of years but with the popularity of DNA testing increasing as people learn of its advantages, Larry has asked me to co-administrate the site. A big part of that is some major revisions to the site to make it more helpful to Alexander testers by including lineages and email contact availability. The site development is being done by another Alexander tester, so it is becoming somewhat of a group project. We also have an experienced and knowledgeable DNA analyist. We hope to have a site that testers with similar results can compare lineages online and if desired contact each other and trade lineage information, thus breaking down some brick walls. I recommend you get one of your male Alexander relatives to test. The more testers we have, the more we can learn. When I tested last year along with some others we learned a lot even though we thought we had verified paper trails. If you want more, just ask. Author: rogeralexanderr Surnames: Alexander Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.alexander/6165/mb.ashx Message Board Post: James Alexander the weaver is reputed to be a member of a family of 7 brothers and 2 sisters who immigrated to Cecil County MD in the 1680's from Ireland. However, recent YDNA tests have cast some doubt about this James the weaver being a brother of at least two of the other brothers. I am hoping to communicate with other descendents of James the weaver who might help solve this mystery, particularly direct male heirs who might consider YDNA tests. I believe I descend from James the weaver/Moses/James Sr./James Jr./Thomas b. 1796 Spartanburg Co., SC., d. 1877 Johnson Co., IN.
