I have family still in Ontario. I don't speak French so kind of intimidated. They live in Elliot Lake, ON. If any one can help me find a way to contact them please let me know. I have no idea what it costs to call Canada but wish I could. My grandfather married twice so I am sure I also have Aunts and Uncles in Momence, Il or there about. I was so excited when I found out there are living relatives. Robert Scott Alexander is supposed to work at a University but I don't even know how to find information about that. Don't get discouraged, the Alexander line has long been my most difficult. I can't seem to get back any further than the g grandparents in Union County IL. To add to the confusion my grandmother (maiden name Alexander) married her cousin, her mother-in-laws maiden name was also Alexander. I can't decide if it's that difficult or if I'm just not looking in the right places. Hello. I am a descendent of Joseph and James the Tanners. I have been doing a bit of hiking at the Fair Hill NRMA, and have come across several interesting ruins. Does anyone here know anything about the ruins? I believe the ones along the Appleton Road probably belonged to James based upon a map I found at the Historical Society in Cecil County and an article that I found in their files. I have tried to get more information from them and from the park itself, but I have had no luck. They both tell me to contact the other. I have thought about doing courthouse research, but I haven't had the chance to get to Elkton yet. BTW, the Rock Church is easy to find along route 273 as well as the Head of Christiana Church. James is probably buried at Head of Christiana as well as his son Amos and Amos' wife, Sarah Sharp. I haven't located the graves yet. Also, the Sharp cemetery is near Fair Hill NRMA along route 213. If anyone has any question about finding these places, please let me know.
