John McKnitt Alexander signed it, along with various others who lived in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina at the time. John McKnitt Alexander is buried at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, North Carolina, along with people like my fifth great-grandmother and grandfather --- Abigail Alexander and her husband Francis Bradley --- his sister and brother-in-law. But you, Chris, come up with what I know nothing about, i.e. universal Indian DNA testing, which sounds great. While we would like all Alexanders to test yDNA, I refer you to two sites that should better inform you than I: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/AmericanIndian/ http://americanindiandna.com/ I suspect a DNA sample could be used for Alexander yDNA comparison AND Indian DNA comparison. If a person wanted to test first for their Alexander DNA, then test for their Indian DNA how would they do that? My brother may agree with testing but with the indians is it the male or female that needs to be tested? Also do you have to say and know what tribe you want to be tested for? I have tried to tell the group My father was Alexander, his father was Alexander, His father all the way to Joseph Alexander who came from Tyrone. One more thing why is it you don't give more information about the testing. You said you handle 30 different families. I think you and I may be cousins but no one says what the DNA lineage is. Why not? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board.

Author: PennySutton67 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.alexander/6219.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Actually, neither of my cousins is an Alexander. From what I've been able to deduce, Jesse only sired girls. Does that mean DNA testing is out of reach altogether in this case? I know Jesse had a brother and if I've correctly followed the path of his travels he had sons, however I have no clue who the decendents of those sons might be. Honestly, I keep hitting a roadblock with this man so I have focussed most of my researching time on my other lines. Unfortunately, that leaves me with very little knowledge on the Alexanders at all. My husband has suggested that I start at the beginning and work my way forward rather than start at the here and now and work backward. This is because so much is known about those first 7 brothers and Lord Stirlings heir, but what if this Jesse is from some obscure line?
