    1. Joseph Ray McCleskey
    2. In 1930, Joseph Ray McCleskey was a bank president living in Gadsden, Alabama. His daughter, Nancy May, married Jack Hastings Mayfield (from Texas) between 1930 and 1937. When the daughter of such a prominant family (the family home in 1930 was worth $25,000), marries there is usually an article in the paper about the wedding. Nancy attended Sophie Newcomb College and (according to her obituary in the Houston Chronicle) that is where she met Jack. Jack (a doctor) and Nancy were living in Houston, Texas by 1940. They had a son, Jack, Jr; in 1937. There is no record of his birth in Texas, however, a sister was born in Houston in 1940. Is there anyone who could look for a marriage license for me and/or a newspaper article about the wedding? Margaret McCleskey, Arlington, Texas
