I would also like to connect with others who are interested in the family histories of those buried at Turkeytown Methodist Cemetery. Is there a viable Turkeytown Methodist Church there today? Who owns the cemetery? Is there a fund for its upkeep? Mary in TX

    3. If someone has asked about others being interested in Turkey Town, please count me in. My G G'Father, Henry Chambers SANFORD, and his brother, Lemuel J. SANFORD, were mentioned as having been in Turkey Town in mid to late 1820s in a locally published history of Cherokee, Co. Both were still residents of Greenville Dist., SC at the time but did move to what is now southern Cherokee Co c1835. I believe the brief cite said that Turkey Town was a trading post and that Henry had some sort of shop there. Any information at all would be appreciated.
