It contains a considerable amount of info on the Underwoods' The book follows numerous branches as they move from Virginia. My branch of them moved into Arkansas, but, part of my family was in Alabama also (around Altoona in Etowah County). In an old letter, I remember reading of a political election that was mentioned where one of the cantidates was an Underwood. This was about 1905-1912. When I read that, I wondered if that Underwood was related to my line since part of my family was there in Alabama and perhaps that was how the family's encountered each other? But, the name of the cantidate was not mentioned and that was the end of that. If you find an Underwood that was running for office in the time period mentioned and have a name, I would be interested to learn that name as I will compare it to my information to see if there is any link.
