can anyone help this person? From 1870 census I have found that my mother's great and great/great grandfather lived in Gadsden. Census 280 #'s 25 and 26. WC was my mother's great grandfather and the Josephine age 2, her grandmother. Is there anyway from papers in Gadsden to find if there are pictures, wills, or any more information on JW Lee and his family or WC Lee and his girls. WC died July 3rd 1877. Would he be found in cemeteries in Etowah County. Francis Griffin Lee, his wife, came to Texas after his death. She had 3 girls and a son on the way at the time of his death. She came to Texas with her parents, James and Margaret Griffin. They settled N of the Dallas area in Collin County. Margaret and her parents are buried not far from Anna, Texas. WC Lee enlisted in the Confederate army Company D 10th Alabama Reg in June, 1861. Family members called him Captain William Carroll Lee but the war department just lists him as a private. I know this information from a copy of a Civil War Pension from Texas (#13273). His brother Gregg Lee testified to the pension board around 1900. He was 68 and living in Rock Spring, Ettowah County, Alabama. Any additional information or places to look would be extremely helpful. Thank you, Sherry Snelling [email protected]
