Lem Barnett was born in 1842. The name could be spelled Barnet. It was even spelled Barnette on my g-grandmothers marriage record. I found the family in the census and the name was spelled Barnet. At this point, I'm not sure of the spelling. Elinor
Just a word of advice. If you're using a service like ancestry.com, do your look-up first using the exact spelling of the person's name. Then, if you don't find the person you're looking for, do a Soundex search. It helps find different spellings as well as transcription errors made when the indexes were created. (A lot of those Census Enumerators had atrocious handwriting. I know. I did some Census transcriptions several years ago.)
