I confirm the relatives presence in Hermitage, Tennessee in 1826. In 1839 my own third great grandfather says this relative died leaving his children a handsome fortune. In 1899 a great niece writes in a historical account of the family that my missing family member moved to Alabama. Most recently I received this information from rootsweb.com and it seems to match my guy. However the submitter only copied the information from someone else's pamphlet on their family. He had no real data. Here is the information and I am looking for some facts on this line. Eliza Moore married Col. James McDonald (my third great uncle) and died in Glencoe Alabama.. I am not sure who died Eliza or James??? .. They had two daughters, Ann Henrietta McDonald who married Sterling R. Cockrell. Their children were Emmett, Elizabeth Harding, Effie, Hennrietta, Amanthen, James McDonald, Valentine and Sterling. And Effie Lavinia McDonald who married Oakley Byrnum. Their children were Mary, Oakley and Effie. I would appreciate it if you could see if any of these folks were in Glencoe Alabama, especially James McDonald between 1826 and 1839. His children would be later of course.

    3. Just a word of advice. If you're using a service like ancestry.com, do your look-up first using the exact spelling of the person's name. Then, if you don't find the person you're looking for, do a Soundex search. It helps find different spellings as well as transcription errors made when the indexes were created. (A lot of those Census Enumerators had atrocious handwriting. I know. I did some Census transcriptions several years ago.)
