My mother in law is said to have been born there, 1914. How would I get her birth certificate? I also need information about Banks and Heffley/Hefley families who are her ancestors. At varying times members of these families lived in VA, (Banks family, late 1700's-1800) SC (early Hefley's) TN (where they got together) and Arkansas. I'm especially interested in a death date for Becky aka Rebecca E. (nee Hefley) Banks living in the poor house in Shelby, TN 1930 and her son, Joseph Banks born either 1884 (1900 census) or 1886 (WWI draft card). Thanks

A librarian at Gadsden told me that the Historical Society had them. The only thing available at the library is the microfilm, but I hoping the originals are available through the historical society. I was told all the hard copies of the newspapers were given to the Gadsden-Etowah county Historical Society and moved to the Elliott Community Center. I havent had a chance to contact one of the members of the historical society to see if that is true and if I can get access to the newspapers. John Awbrey
