Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Etowah/796 Surname: David Mansker, Nancy Holly Mansker, Eliza Ann Mansker ------------------------- I am looking for any information on the above. David and Nancy Mansker were my great-great-great grandparents. Eliza Ann Mansker was supposedly born in Etowah, Co., in 1824, although of course, it was not named that then. They later moved to Pickens Co., in 1825. Any information or records would be appreciated.

She was the daughter of Christopher Bullard JOHNSON and Nancy HAMBRICK. Christopher's father may have come from NC. Elizabeth reportedly married and moved to Beaver Creek Colony, Indian Territory. I do not have any dates for her marriage or moving and do not know the name of the man she married. Hope someone can give me a clue where to look. Thanks, Patsy Spradley Davis

    3. What's the easiest way to get a marriage rec. for Etowah county? I have a marriage for William WORKS m. Sarah LAWSON, 8 Nov 1869, recorded in Book 2, Pg. 027. The index book I found this in, Marriages of Etowah Co. by Pruitt, says there is "more data on actual certificate." I'd like to know what the additional data is. THANKS, Sandy

    3. Could be a letter giving permission for them to be married. This is what was attached to my grandparents certificate from Etowah Co. when I received it. Of course, it said, "please allow William C. McNeal to marry my daughter, the man has no father." It was signed by the future father-in law. Still haven't found his parents, siblings, etc. and probably never will. Hope you have better luck. Will

    2. Actually there are several cemeteries not covered in the 97 Etowah County, Alabama Cemeteries book including Forrest Cemetery and Crestwood Cemetery, the 2 largest cemeteries in Etowah County. Also, Clayton cemetery would not be listed in the phonebook as there is not a phone at the cemetery. If directions are needed to it, please email me back. Hope this helps. John

    1. Re: [31] Etowah County Death Record Information
    2. Herb, I have the Etowah Co. Historical Cemetery book which covers most all cemeteries except Forrest. The only Hoge I found was Roger W. Hoge b: 1/3/1907; d: 12/8/1946 and is buried in Clayton Cemetery on Dwight Ave. in AL. City. (sorry don't have exact address but information can give it to you or try the yellow pages on line). As I do not have a listing for Forest Cem. try them. My grandmother is in Forrest and they were very helpful and did supply me with their obit. which contain lots of info! the address is Forrest Cemetary, 700 South 15th Street, Gadsden Al. 3590l tel. 256 (the area code was recently changed form 205 to 256) 549-4693; good luck, Jackie
