I know how busy the Northeast Alabama Genealogy folks as they are getting ready for the Swap Meet tomorrow, Saturday, April 7, 2001. Could anyone that is attending please clairfy time, place etc. I had someone ask me about it this week and I told them I think one needed to be preregistered to attend, and I didn't have my paperwork with me. Thanks, Jackie in Oxford
Azel Johns married Mary Dearman about 1803 in Darlington District, S.C. Her parents were Solomon Dearman and Mary Brigman. They moved to Alabama about 1815 and settled a little west of Steele, AL. I've been laboring under the belief that my great grandfather, Marion Johns, was the son of Richard Johns, who was the son of Azel Johns and Mary Dearman. However, I have no hard data to confirm this. Sorry I couldn't attend the "Swap Meet" in Gadsden tomorrow. My wife and I were booked and ready to go but my old wore out back won't allow it. I hope someone will have a tidbit of information they are willing to share with me that will tie this line together. Happy Swap Meeting, Rod Willis, Tallahassee, FL Posted on: Etowah Co. I have come across Russell Thompson but could never fit him in with what I have. There are several Samuel Thompson's in the area from 1836 to 1900 but the only one that seems to fit is the one from Etowah in 1888. Thanks again. Donna

Email didn't go through earlier and I haven't worked on family for few months. Jasper Brown family doen't match my line but I have gaps. I believe I have two Brown lines. The LOCKLEAR family I am looking for may not have been to Arkansas. However some BROWN in-laws may have lived there. There was travel between Ok, Ark, and Al. John Willis LOCKLEAR (1861-1923) may have been born Ark. since I have not located him on Al. or Ga. Census 1900 and earlier. John Willis LOCKLEAR married PATSY BROWN(1868-1934) in Etowah County, Alabama March 25, 1886. After living there, they moved to Floyd, Co. Georgia. (Lavendar and Rome) Patsy's mother was ELISABETH(1842-1904) and father John or George Washington BROWN. Her stepfather was John HALBURN in 1900. ELISABETH BROWN is my grtgrdmother. I am trying to prove her mother and sister are SALLY (BATTLES) BROWN and MAHALA (BROWN) md 1st BATTLES 2nd HIGGINS, who are buried in Arkansas. I am also looking for John and Patsy Locklear's grandchildren to see if they have BROWN family tree. Children of John Willis and Patsy (Brown) Locklear: William M. Minnie V'termie (copied as found) Emma John B. Locklear Geneva Locklear Elenora Edward Frank Locklear Hopefully this is helpful. Let me know if connection works out. Best wishes, N. Habiger
