You can request a form from Soc. Sec. each form is 7.00, but supplies place of birth, parents, etc. I have found it useful in trying to track down relatives. My grandparents also had a nasty divorce in the 1960's, so I know how it feels starting at ground zero. Good luck in your search. Michele

    3. Posted on: Etowah Co. Al Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Etowah/10830 Surname: bedford, walker ------------------------- This information is certainly interesting and hopefully useful in finding some more pieces to the Bedford/Walker connection. I would like to see if you have more information. For example, my Robert Walker (the one I have back the furthest)was born in 1794 in SC. I can't remember when Etowah Co AL was created but was your Wm Thomasson and Betsy Elizabeth Walker married in 1806 in AL? My Walker line was still in SC when Robert's children were born 1814 - 1830's. My Catharine Bedford was born in SC also, wife of John Adam Edgar Walker. My Adam Edgar, son of J.A.E.W., was born in AL in 1849. His (J.A.E. W.) children were all born in AL 1845 - 1862. This would be the timeperiod that your Betsy was in KY. I think the similar Walker/Bedford connection should be pursued. I am sure your line and my line connect somehow. Do you know where Betsy was born? Her parents? etc?

    1. [31] Etowah Co Heritage Book
    2. I saw a heritage book at the library (NOT Etowah Co but another AL county) and was truly impressed. I always worry about those ripoff books like Halbert and can't afford to lose money like that. If someone has one, can you see if there is any reference to the John Adam Edgar Walker line. I guess Walker or Mckenzie in general would work. Thanks in advance, Pam. I checked with www.heritagepublishing.net and the person to contact is E. Pentecost, 825 Mayo Road, Altoona AL 35952. The book lists for $64.40.

    1. [31] West Family
    2. I missed the description of the Heritage books. I am researching the family of Christopher Columbus West. He was born early 1930s m. Elizabeth REED. In 1870 he was in Cherokee Co. In 1880, he was in Jackson Co.. In 1890 at least some of his children ( Izzy Dora (many spellings) and Mary) were in Etowah Co. I believe other members of the Reed family also may have ended up in the area. Are the names WEST, REED or FREEMAN (Izzy Dora's married name) in the Heritage book? Thanks in advance Phyllis Frank
