Riddie is a female in the family ca 1850 AL. Is this a nickname or is this her "real" first name? Sure are some unusual names in this family. Ellie
Jeppy was a fairly common southern name. It has fallen by the wayside rather like Beau has. It stood for Jepson in most cases, though some family lines wrote it Jephson just as Beau was for Beauregard/Beaureguard(t) another fine southern family. Take a good look and see if anyone served under a Jepson in the war or had that maiden name. Susan in Texas

I became aware of you thorugh Gina Pruitt in Illinois. Squire Morgan married (2) Mary Charlsie Ramsey, and they had six children. I have this information if you desire. Their only child who had children was the youngest Dona May Morgan, 1905-1936, who married Louis Howard Shaneyfelt and they had four children, all of whom are deceased. The only descendants of Squire and second wife Mary Charlsie are through two great granddaughters. I do have some information on Squire's children by his first marriage, including their complete births and deaths. Do you want this? I notice it is not on the print-out I received on Squire and Sarah's descendants through Gina. This is my wife's side of the family but she is a Ramsey descendant. Her relationship to the Morgans is as in-laws. I am Les Waltman, Enterprise AL. email is [email protected]
I have family in Alabama with the first names spelled Jeppy and Jeppi. Don't know the reason behind the name but they are actual names. Gina
Could this be a misinterpretation of handwriting? Two P's could be two S's making the name Jessy. Possible? Delilah, I really don't know if this one is mine or not. The ones I listed is the only ones I know of. I haven't been able to find where William F. Treadaway and Margie Satterfield Treadaway married. I did find on a 1880 Cherokee CO. GA census a William and Margret Treadaway about the right ages with two other children, a Adeline and Harriet. I am just really having a hard time finding this side of my family .On the 1900 census they had six living children with only four of them at home, so I am hoping this 1880 family is mine. Does anyone have anything on any of this family, (cemetery, marriages) This is from the 1900 census Treadaway, William F. White male born Dec. 1847 SC Treadaway, Margret or Margie white female born May 1849 GA Treadaway, James white male born July 1881 AL Treadaway, William D. white male born Dec. 1883 AL Treadaway, Willie white female born April 1886 AL Treadaway, Texanna white female born Nov. 1889 All I know is that William D. was my grandfather and he died (1909) and is buried in Lauderdale CO. My mother and her brother spelled their last name, Treadway. James applied for a social security card and his place of birth was Walnut Grove, AL. His last know residence was Gardendale, AL when he died in Oct. 1966 but he isn't listed in the Jefferson CO cemetery book. Maybe he is buried at his birth county? If anyone can offer any help, I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Gayle
There is a survey list that was done in the 1960s by the LDS church and also a survey in the 1990s that is incorporated into a master cemetery book for etowah county. only graves with markers/tombstones/headstones are included. no unmarked graves.
Is there a comprehensive list of names of those buried at Turkeytown? My name is Jack Mooney and I believe many of my ancestors are buried there on the Mooney side as well as many others from my mother's side.
