I know he was either married to or had a child with Martha Ann Bell (who later became a Davis by marriage, and still later a Smith . . . she obviously ws married several times). Lance and Martha's daughter was Celia Ann Davis (born in 1883). Apparently, she took the surname of Martha's second husband, but she was Lance's daughter. Celia married William Harvey Swearingen and had four children: Orville, Ora, Dessie, and Albert Harold. Dessie married a John Thomas Cindle. They are my great-grandparents. The reason I am trying to trsce my family to Lance Woodfin is he is supposed to have been full blood Cherokee. I am trying to prove my Indian ancestry. I think he may have died at a young age (or maybe was never married to Martha) because of the number of times she was married.
