I don't believe they're available for purchase, either, though I'd love to own copies. But some people who have them watch online sites and will sometimes look up information in them. They are in the Alabama Department of Archives and History if you can visit there. I looked through them for some information a couple months ago. I can tell you that I've seen a number of Myrick graves in various cemeteries I've visited in western Elmore County (and perhaps Coosa) over the last couple years. I haven't taken note of any of your surnames specifically, but I just happen to recall seeing Myricks. = Steve =

While posting the information pertaining to the name of the cemetery in question, i.e., "Coosa River Primitive Baptist Church", an entry caught my eye on page 37 of Volume 2, Cemeteries of Elmore County, Alabama. The entry is "E. D. Womble, Jan 11, 1827, Mar 10, 1909". Could this be your Edmond Wamble that you are searching for? You probably need to consider the possibility that some family members were recorded under the Womble surname.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VS.2ADI/636.2.1 Message Board Post: The cemetery in question was surveyed by Linda and Tracey Blakenship in 1988. The results were published in Volume 2, "Cemeteries of Elmore County, Alabama". The information is compiled on pages 28 through 61 under the name of "Coosa River Primitive Baptist Church located at the intersection of Highway 111 and County Road 265. Map location: Section 4, Township 19, Range 17. Census taken on June 1988. The church was constituted in 1821." The reason I have this information is because I created the indexes for Linda for both Volumes 1 and Volume 2, containing over 27,000 names. The names mentioned in the various postings pertaining to this entry, i.e., Wamble, Boothe, Phillips, were not found in either Volumes. Hopes this helps your genealogical quests.

The men named Owsley could not wait to get back to Alabama but their sister Laura Owsley remained in Arkansas. Lawrence settled in Wetumpka, taught school, married a woman named Annie Scott McGehee. Eventually they farmed and lived at Claude. Lawrence died 17 July 1931. I remember hearing my father talk about Uncle Dave. When I was a graduate student at the Univ of Ala back in the '50s the drum major was named Bill Owsley who was I believe a great-grandson of David Owsley. Bill now lives in Anniston, Al. 2. Hello All, From what I have learned, there was a post office for the community around the school called Central Institute and it was known as Central Institute Post Office. In one of the census reports, the Central Institute post office is one of the designations for giving the location of the homes visited. I don't think that the reference to the school means your ancestor was enrolled at the school. Could have simply been living in that vicinity. There is still a location on AL maps which is now called "Central".
