Surnames: McCratic, Underwood, Sc(k)aggs, Schon (Skon) Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VS.2ADI/660.1 Message Board Post: Vivian, I would love to exchange information with you, concerning the CRADDOCK surname. We have been looking for CRADDOCK/CRADDUCK and various spellings, to see where our family fits in. Somewhere along the line, we believe the MC was left off the surname and the families, census takers changed the spelling. We found a McCratic in the 1860's in VA- there is a Craddock line in West VA whom I believe descends from this gentleman. Have not been able to find our family in census records, but we are looking page to page for various spellings. Frustrating, indeed! My father-in-law's line was from MO/AR/TX areas. Please let me know if you want to share information. Our line: Frank McCratic Sarah Catherine "Sis" Underwood children: 1) Marshall Lee McCratic b: 20 Sep 1880 buried: Dutch Mills, AR, m: Ollie- children: Jim, Charlie, Ernest, Orville, Andy and Icey. 2) Oliver Isaac McCratic b:17 Feb 1887 d: 1967 m: Lula Skaggs - children: Virgil, Gene, Othella, James Richard and Robert (Bobby)McCratic 3) "Polly" McCratic- no info known. Do you have an e-mail address for Ms. Betty Jean Baker? Thank you, Lisa McCratic Canton, GA

    1. Re: [ALElmore] Central Institute, Elmore county, AL during 1880 CESUS
    2. Hello All! I think the postal district and census enumeration district were both derived from their proximity to the old school. There is still a small community shown in my atlas called "Central" which I believe is in the area where Central Institute School was located. It appears to be at the intersection of Highways 80 and 9, and is somewhat north and west of Eclectic. Residents of the area did some graveyard searches for my ancestors who lived in the Central Institute ED this spring. They looked in the vicinity of Central, but we haven't located their markers yet.
