Since Ancestry doesn't have indexes for its 1900 census images, I've begun visually scanning all images for Elmore County for that year, but nothing yet. I'm hoping to learn who Charlie's parents are and see if he connects to another branch of Thorntons I'm researching. So if anyone comes across any information on Charlie in the 1900 census, I'd sure appreciate hearing about it. = Steve =

Ii know practically nothing about my grandfather's background, except I found Sidney Parrish and family in a census record which verified my grandfather as his son, with correct birthday, etc. They were living in Calhoun Co.,AL at the time. My grandfather later lived in LaGrange, GA with his own family, my mother being the oldest of 8 children. Any information you have on Sidney Parrish's background, I would greatly appreciate. I'm anxious to learn anything I can about the parents of Eugenia Octave Thornton, who is my Great Great Grandmother. In the census of 1880, she lived near Tallassee with a younger brother named as "Alonza Thornton" and his wife "Mariller". Their younger sister was also there, listed as "Malissa". In December of 1880, she married Isaac Archie Jackson. According to my best information (which includes her grave marker), she was born 21 July 1852 and died 14 Sep 1932. Her death certificate says her father was "G. Thornton" and nothing more than that. I suspect she was born in Tallapoosa County, though I have no proof. If you can help me to learn more about her and her parents, I'd love to hear from you. = Steve = -- Steve W. Surnames: MCCLUSKEY Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VS.2ADI/704.1 Message Board Post: I, too, am researching the MCCLUSKEY family from Tallassee, AL. I visited Rose Hill cemetery in Tallassee in Dec. 2002 and noted all the McCluskeys buried there. There is definitely a William in my line, but it's not the same one you mention. However, I'm pretty sure they're related, but not quite sure how. The McCluskeys I know of are: (David) Miles McCluskey (b ab. 1811) who married Isabella McCleskey (1813-1862). Isabella died in Tallassee and is supposedly buried there, although I haven't found her grave. Her family was not from Tallassee, so I believe that Miles is the the Tallassee native. They had 8 children that I know of: 1) James Alexander (1832-1898), 2)Thomas Jefferson (1833-1902); 3) Amanda Louise (b. 1836); 4) Edward Bengham - my gg grandfather (b. 1839); 5) Louisa Jane (b. 1841); 6) Oscar Dunreath (b. 1844); 7) Albert Theodore (1845-1850); 8) William (1847). I've seen William's middle name noted as "Franklin" and as "Joseph." I don't know which is correct. Edward Bengham married Sarah Elizabeth Barnes in 1858 in Muscogee County, GA. Edward and Sarah are both buried in Rose Hill cemetery in Tallassee, AL. They had 6 children that I know of - three died young and are buried with them in Rose Hill. Their daughter, Alice Clara McCluskey (1868-1926)was my great grandmother. She's buried with her son, my grandfather, in Montgomery, AL. I'm quite sure our lines are connected - Tallassee is a small town. Please reply or e-mail me. I'd like to work with you on the connection. Thanks, Diane Jones Lowe
