Surnames: German, Jarman, Jerman(s), Jackson, Fields, Zeigler, Cotton, Buffin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VS.2ADI/924 Message Board Post: I am researching the maternal side of my family history. My grandparents were Curleva& Ben German; her maiden name was Jackson. Curleva was born in AL in 1876 & Ben was born around 1877. Her father was Griffin Jackson, born about 1855 in either SC or AL. His mother was Ollie German, born 1820 in SC; her daughter Betsy was 25 at the time of the 1880 Federal census; From the info that I have Griffin was either a mulatto or Black Indian. My grandmother Curleva J German and Peggy Jackson (born around 1859) were sisters; Peggy Jackson married Silas Fields(born around 1855); their chidren were Peggy, born around 1859, and Maggy, born around 1879. Willie Fields married Novella Jackson and Nathan Jackson was married to Elivra who was born in AL on 6/17/1898 and died 10/15/1872. The German side of the family in the 1880 Federal which indicated that Olllie German was born in SC; At the time of the census she was in AL. I also found mention of Griffin Jackson in the 1880 Federal Cens! us. Several other relatives I found were Louie Fields, Mattie Lou Fields, both deceased. A large number of the German, Zeigler, Buffin, and Williamson, and Lewis family members are buried in the Zeigler family cemetery which is located behind Draper Correctional center which is located in Elmore County. According to family history, the cemetery was given to us by the Zeiglers to be used as a burial site. It's unknown if we are related to them, but we possibly are. We are also related to the Buffin, Wells and Cotton families. Nancy German married someone named Wells; their daughter Jettie Mae married B. Cotton. Harvey Buffin married Effie Jackson on 12/23/1891 in Elmore Co., Al. Thanks for any assistance.
