I've offered to post the following information for Autauga Friends of the Library: Friends of the Library is meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Marbury Community Center Library. They are asking that anyone with family history or memorabilia concerning the Marbury community attend this meeting to help initiate a recorded history of Marbury. The Community Center is located on Hwy. 20, off Hwy 31 n. of Prattville. This is the only information I have - for questions contact the Prattville Library. Hope many of you can help with this project. Caroline Horton, Pres., Autauga Genealogical Society
The Autauga Genealogical Society will meet this Sunday, September 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the Prattville Library. John Enslen, Attorney from Wetumpka, will speak on the Poarch Creek Indians. Anyone interested in genealogy is invited to attend - membership in the Autauga Genealogical Society is not required. We regret that we are unable to post or mail handouts. The Society has planned a field trip to the new Georgia State Archives at Morrow, Georgia, on Oct. 3-4. Participants may travel alone or may travel with a group which will meet at 7:30 a.m.- 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot behind Herrod's Chevron in Prattville (across from Prattville Baptist Hospital). We will spend Friday and Saturday researching at the Archives, returning late Saturday afternoon. Most of the group will stay at Days Inn - Southlake, 1599 Adamson Pkwy, Morrow, Georgia, ph. 770-961-6044 or 1-888-757-3297. This hotel is located within two miles of the Archives and offers a special "Georgia Archives" rate, $45.00 for the night, for those who request it. Each person is responsible for making hotel reservations. Please email Larry Caver at Lecaverjr@aol.com if you plan to participate. He will have information about the research regulations at the Archives.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VS.2ADI/943 Message Board Post: I am searching for information concerning George Tamlin Regan and his daughters Daisy b. abt. 1910 who married Cephus G. Oliver. Daisy had a daughter named Glenda A. and a son named Harold G. Oliver by 1930. George's other daughter was named Cleo [b. abt. 1915]. Daisy and her family and Cleo all lived with their father George Regan and his young wife Annie P. in Reeltown Alabama where George worked in the cotton mill there. My mother told me this family once lived in Elmore County Alabama near Tallassee. If they lived in Elmore County it would have had to have been after 1930. If anyone has any information about this family, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you, Gwen
Thanks, Susan. I will answer to these lists also in hopes that someone here may have information that can help me. I had someone who was going to xerox and mail me information she had on these families, but I lost the email with her address. Hopefully she will see this. My grandmother, Corrie Lee ELLIOTT, was born in Wadley, Randolph Co., AL in 1895. She was the daughter of Timothy William ELLIOTT and Emily Ann TAYLOR. I have absolutely no information on either parent or siblings of my grandmother. Corrie Lee ELLIOTT married Isaiah Durham STROTHER, Jr. circa 1916 in Tallassee, AL, living I am told on the Tallapoosa side of the river. Isaiah died in Tallassee on June 24, 1936. I believe he was the superintendent of a cotton mill there. Any information on any of these people would be greatly appreciated.. susan wrote: >Tim asked for lookups on Strother, Elliott, and Taylor. You can see what the USGS site has at http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.GetDetail?tab=Y&id=121790 if you like, including one or more maps. I know that Linda and Tracy Blankenship's book will list the graves as of their publication, but I don't have a copy (some other respondent probably will). The only online site I know for sure to check for enumerations is at ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/al/elmore/cemetery, but it doesn't include this one. = Steve =

Yes, there was/is a Methodist Church in Wetumpka. Established in 1837, and building completed in 1854, so it fits your time frame. It is now known as the First United Methodist Church, and is located at 306 West Tuskeena Street, Wetumpka, AL 36092. The current building is the original as added onto, and is registered as a National Historical Building. I do not know if they have any records that far back, but can say that there is not a cemetery associated with the church. Interment would have most likely been in the Wetumpka City Cemetery, which was the only cemetery in town until the late 1950's or early 60's when a Memorial Garden was opened. When I lived there, (1945 to 1968) people from outlying areas came in to the church in Wetumpka for worship. History indicates that this was the practice for many years, and may still be.

Here is the description of 70: Precinct 1, Colemans (part of). All east of line from Channahatchee Creek at John Brew's (col) place; thence along the center of public road via Wesley Taylor; thence to Henry Warren place to "Georgia road"; thence center of said road and Alexander City road via Dr. Warren place to county line. This places it in the northeastern part of the county, which was once western Tallapoosa County. The description for ED 71 differs only in that it says "west of" instead of "east of". Georgia Road is a familiar name to me, but I'm not positive what road it is -- perhaps Alabama Highway 163, but I can't recall at the moment. = Steve =
