I know there has been a branch of the Aldridge family in Watauga and Avery counties, descended from James Arledge and Betsy Calloway, and would suspect that your Elizabeth Aldredge Greer might be linked to those. Ah yes, here I see her! She's listed as a daughter of James and Betsy's son Harrison E. Aldridge in information I received from Donna Bogue: > ..... 2 Harrison E. Aldridge b: December 15, 1821 in Watauga River > Settlement NC d: January 11, 1905 in Watauga River Settlement NC > ......... +Gincie Emily Clark b: Abt. 1825 d: December 03, 1906 m: Abt. > 1850 ... > ............. 3 Elizabeth Aldridge b: January 01, 1851 d: Bef. 1905 > ................. +Mr Greer m: March 28, 1870 > ..................... 4 Manerva Greer > ......................... +Mr Justice > ..................... 4 Mary Etta Greer > ......................... +Mr Riddle > ..................... 4 Marshall Greer > ..................... 4 William Greer > ..................... 4 Benjamin Greer > ..................... 4 Maude Greer I'm not researching this family, so I just have a collection of messages other folks have posted about the family, which I can send you. I imagine that you will hear from Audrey Franklin, Donna Bogue and others working on this line. You should probably join the Aldridge/Arledge list (send "subscribe arledge" message to majordomo@tx3.com to subscribe) since there is frequent discussion of this family. Best wishes!
