    3. Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, NC Jesse F. Aldridge Jesse F. Aldridge, 86, departed this life for his heavenly home on Friday, October 11, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital. He was born on June 8, 1916 in Stanly County, the son of Jesse Filmore and Daisy Simpson Aldridge. Jesse Aldridge was honored to serve his country by being in the U.S. Navy. During World War II, Jesse served on the USS Hornet in the Pacific. After serving his country, Jesse worked for Hudson Hosiery before beginning thirty-five years with WICA/UNOCAL Chemical Company, where he held numerous positions of leadership. Jesse Aldridge was a devoted member of Midwood Baptist Church for over 50 years, holding many positions within the church. For a short time he was a member of First Baptist Church of Locust, North Carolina. A funeral to celebrate his life and heavenly homegoing will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14, at Midwood Baptist Church. The Reverends Joe Burnette, Bob Campbell, Glen Johnson, and Kenny Wallace will officiate. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. He is survived by Rose, his loving wife of 18 years; two sons, Ronald and wife Wanda of Charlotte, Phil and wife Rene of Bremerton, Washington; four grandchildren, Amy Aldridge of Charlotte, Jeff and wife Wendy of Jacksonville, Florida, and Kirk and Jake of Bremerton, Washington; and three great grandchildren, Tyler, Kassidy Register, and Bailey of Jacksonville, Florida. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Janice Medlin and husband Hoyt of Weddington, Debbie and husband Michael of Charlotte; 3 step-grandchildren, Brad Bridgers of New York City, Leslie Nakhle and husband Riad of Charlotte, and Melanie Santizo and husband George of Charlotte; and three great step-grandchildren, Gavin Santizo, Michael and Benjamin Nakhle, all of Charlotte. He is also survived by his youngest sister, Mildred Funderburk of Salt Lake City, Utah, and his youngest brother, Victor Aldridge of Siler City, North Carolina. This gentle man will be greatly missed by his large and loving family. His parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Bertie Mae Aldridge. The family wishes to express its deep appreciation to the nursing staff of Presbyterian's Harris Hospice Unit.
