From what I have been able to gather, both ARLEDGE and ARLIDGE are derivations of ALDRIDGE/ALDRICH that occurred sometime in the 17th-19th centuries. It is apparent that ARLIDGE (with an "i") is the primary norm in England, while ARLEDGE (with an "e") is the norm for the changed form of the name in the southern U.S. The names changed from ALDRIDGE/ALDRICH independently, and so are therefore only connected as they may have a common ancestor in the medieval days. There are occasional exceptions to the spellings, but this is the primary trend. I personally don't know much about the ARLIDGE family in the British Isles, though we have had a few correspondents representing that group from time to time. If you come across any web sites dedicated to ARLIDGE history, I would be pleased to link them to our ARLEDGE web site. Thanks, and best wishes! 3. Vickie, Thank you for your generous offer to do lookups. I am looking for information on Littleberry ALDRIDGE who married Rebecca READ in 1817 in Greene Co., OH. His father may have been Jeffrey Aldridge of Dinwiddie Co., VA. They & other Aldridges were in Dinwiddie Co. in the late 1700s. Any info on the family would be appreciated. 1. A Short Marriage
    2. I am looking for any information regarding Hattie Aldridge. She was living in Missour in 1908. October 27th of that year she married my grandfather, Noble Alexander. The marriage probably lasted 2 to 3 years only. My grandfather told my mother that he had two children by that marriage, but she never knew their names. If indeed there were children from this short lived marriage , I would like to find out what I can. I also would like to know the family of Hattie Aldridge. The Aldridge's married into the Alexander's frequently. She may have been a cousin. Thank you.

    1. Arledge Family History database
    2. Pam Wilson
    3. Hi, everyone. I have just updated the Arledge Family History DATABASE on the Rootsweb WorldConnect site. This has over 17,000 names of descendants of Clement and Elizabeth Tilles ARLEDGE/ALDRIDGE of Northumberland Co, VA (late 1600s). It is linked to the main Arledge FHP web page (URL is below), or you can go directly to http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=wilsonpam. Please let me know if there are any additions or corrections. I've tried to make all the changes people have sent to me, but if by chance I've missed some, please let me know. I have not had the opportunity to update the web pages for the individual branches of the Arledge family on the main web page in quite some time. When I do, I will no longer come down to the present, since the process of removing information on living individuals from HTML pages is incredibly labor-intensive. Instead, the Worldconnect DATABASE mentioned above will substitute, since it contains information on every Arledge descendant linked in the tree (with specifics removed for living individuals by the computer program, which is a real time-saving feature). I also have a number of photos that people have sent that I've not had a chance to put on the web page. I'm at my web space limit on my Geocities account, but perhaps as I remove some of the lengthy HTML pages as noted above I'll be able to free up some space for more photos. I may also remove some of the handwritten document images, since they take up huge amounts of space and few of you have told me that you have used them. Let me know what features of the web page you find most useful and helpful, and I'll make some decisions accordingly. Thanks! 1. Aldridge/Alexander marriage
    2. I am looking for Hattie Aldridge's family . She married Noble Alexander 27 Oct 1908 in either Johnson Co., or Cass Co., Mo. Noble remarried by 1913 in Ok. My mother always said that her father, Noble, told her that there was two children by that marriage, but she never knew anything about them. I would like to find out one way or the other. If there were children, I would like to either contact them if by some chance they still are living , or the descendents. I think they should at least be made aware of their half siblings. I am also interested in Hattie Aldridge's parents. The Alexander/Aldridge of my line seems to intertwine quite frequently. Thank you for any help any one may be able to provide.

    1. Ross Aldridge, AR
    2. Laura
    3. Hello, I was wondering there is still someone on the list who is descended from, or related to Ross Aldridge. I remember corresponding with someone regarding him, but I can't recall who it was. Anyway, I am wondering, who Ross' parents are, and what the names of his and Elizabeth's children are. I know that Ross married Elizabeth Gillam in Logan Co., AR., but nothing about his parentage or siblings. Thanks, Laura ===== Greetings From Sunny California! 2. Laura
    3. Hello Everyone! 9/9 Lotto news: Laura's Lotto Buddies won $1.00 and will be re-invested. The Mercy Millionaires are dead. =( 9/13 - Wednesday AND 9/16 Saturday: I will be working Mon - Weds of this coming week. The bowling promotion ends September 16th, but the free bowling tickets are good until 12/31/00. The next promotion, starting September 17th, will be, for every $10.00 worth of tickets, you get one free! I LIKE this one!! Oh thank heaven for 7-11! Lotto Group Names: My group name selection lists for each drawing has been less than abundant. Help me out with this, PLEASE <begging>. Thanks to those who have submitted! I had "not" been saving non-picked names for groups for future drawings, but with the gross lack of enthusiasm for submissions, I will have to begin this practice. Come on! It's fun! Be a joiner! *** Important Request *** My deadline for lucky numbers is being extended. I currently have a tie for both the regular numbers and the mega number. 3. Good Morning! I know everyone has heard my sad brick wall story by now, so I won't go there.... What I am writing about is that I am (again) attempted to sort through the Arkansas Aldridges. Somewhere, somehow, I "am" going to get over that brick wall! I am asking for the help of other listers who have Aldridges in Arkansas. I have "just" started a new webpage to help do this. Please, if you would, check out the "rough draft" of this page at: http://www.geocities.com/grannys_trunk/Aldridges-In-AR.html Do you have anything to contribute? Do you have a webpage I can link to? Can I post your name as a contact? Most of the links on this page don't work yet, and I have to head off to work soon (sigh), so I will work on it tomorrow. If you have information to share, please email me and I will add it as I can. Thanks, Laura ===== Greetings From Sunny California! 3. Jesse Aldridge b. 1758 m. Anna Hardy served in Rev. -Capt. Kennedy's Co.1777. Only child listed is named Howell and I am sure he stayed in Lenoir Co. Most Aldridges found in Lenoir, and Dobbs and Glasgow Co. (last two absorbed into Lenoir and Greene Cos.) I doubt this Jesse is yours. He was son of Drewry, my ggggfather. Jesse Aldridge R.S. married Elizabeth ????. their first three children were born in N>C> and the fourth in Ga. in 1824. I cannot determine when they came to GA. nor if they came because of land grants or lotteries. I have found in N.C. Revolutionary War listings a Jesse Aldridge from Newbern District. however from 1790's to 1800's census records only list heads of household. not wives nor children. It seems the Aldridges did not like the limelight they rarely appear in any historical records, marriage announcments, deaths, and few census records. even after they came to Ga. they were buried mostly in unmarked graves. they made very few splashes in the pool to be seen,.
