No Altrates surface in this area. But Aldridge does & also in Pa. There is also a Grandson to the above couple who was given the first name of Attridge/Aldridge. Can anyone shed any light on this line of Aldridges in Frederick Co.,Va? The name Gassaway also appears here & in Pa. with a marriage into the Dick family from Chester Co.,Pa. Thank You!, Rebecca

I am a descendant of William Harrison Aldridge and I have never heard of any Indian ancestors, however, I am unable to go back any further than the birth of William Harrison's mother Susan A. Aldridge born Jan. 27, 1821. Therefore, I would also be interested in any information on this. Dottie
Hello, I am a descandant of Nathan Benjamin Aldridge, I have not hear if any Indain blood in My line, If It is i have not heard anyone say so. But would like to know for records of there is. Mary Aldrige that married William Wilburn is my line. Charity
Hello, List. I would like your help. None of the other surnames I am researching makes mention of Indian ancestry, but it seems to be a claim of many on the Aldridge list. My grandfather, James Albert Aldridge...who is my Great Wall of China, not just a brick wall...also made that claim. I am wondering if every line of Aldridges who has the name of an Indian in its family tree would send me that name and date of birth and any states and counties connected with that person. (I think all I have seen over the last two years have been females.) Please send the name to me at my address, merzegg@aol.com, instead of burdening everyone else on the list with the information (unless people write to the list asking for the same info.) The rest of my knowledge includes a birthdate of 1884-5 for James, who was born in Oklahoma (very inconsiderate of him, considering Oklahoma didn't require birth records until the early 1900's). Thanks in advance. M. Hill
Can anyone help Sam out? I suspect this is the Aldridge line that was more in the central part of Alabama. I can't tie it in with the descendants of Isham or Prince William. Lori ---------- From: "Sam Pickle" <smaster@northarkansas.net> Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2001 11:55:33 -0700 To: "Lori Thornton" <lorit@lcs.net> Subject: Aldridge Family Hello Lori I am searching for information on the parents of my ggg grandmother, Sarah Aldridge, born 1810 in North Carolina. She married Robert Pickle. Robert and Sarah were in Fayette County, Alabama in the late 1830's then moved across the line to Monroe County, Mississippi about 1840. They are both buried in the Bobby Pickle cemetery in Sipsey Fork. Do you have this Sarah in your research files? I believe her father may be Peter Aldridge. Any help would be appreciated. Good Morning Everyone, I am hearing that the Social Security Death Certificates are going up in cost (if you know the #) from $7.00 to $27.00 effective July 1, 2001. If you have waited to order some of these - this looks like a last call. Also, I didn't know this - what a great idea - for those that we do have we can add the info to the Post-em link at rootsweb on the Social Security Death Index. As follows (suggested from another list): > Fellow listers, > Heres an appeal to all of you to pull out the copies of the SSAN > application forms you already have filed away in your "stuff" and post them at Rootsweb. > I just did it for the ones I have and its really easy. :O) > 1. Go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/ > 2. Scroll down the home page to Social Security Death Index and click on it. > 3. Enter the name of the person who is on the form you have into the search engine. > 4. When the right entry comes up, go over to the far right and click on "Add > Post-Em" link. > 5. The "Fill in the blank" form will come up and you can type in the > information just like its printed on the form you have in your hands! > 6. Hi Donna. Thanks for the article--I'll post it to the Arledge (@tx3.com) list and the Aldridge-L list. These Limestone Co, AL Arledges were migrants from Fairfield Co, SC, the descendants of Isaac Arledge who had settled in Fairfield County SC in the mid-1700s. He and two of his brothers had come to SC from Northumberland Co VA. Isaac's grandson Cyrus and his brother Isaac were two of the primary Arledges who moved west into Limestone Co, AL (their brother Clement settled across the line in Franklin Co, TN) in the 1810's. Many of Cyrus' children moved on to Texas in the next generation or two, settling primarily in Houston Co (Crockett) and Fannin County. As for this cemetery, the relationship between the Coffmans and Arledges is interesting, because I have several points of intersection with this family in my database. I've corresponded with some Coffman/Kaufman researchers about this family, too. I also research the Holbert/Halbert families, since the Arledges and Holberts intermarried in western NC, and here that family turns up too! Here is what I have pieced together of how this family is connected to the Arledges and related families: > Descendants of David Harmon Coffman > > 1 David Harmon Coffman b: Abt. 1750 in Lancaster Co, PA d: Abt. March 1835 in Limestone Co AL > .. +Elizabeth Lovell m: Abt. 1774 in Fauquier Co VA > .......... 2 Lovell Coffman b: Abt. 1775 in Fauquier Co VA d: February 1854 in Giles Co, TN > .............. +Sarah Greene m: 1803 in Giles CO TN > ...................... 3 Markham Greene Coffman b: Abt. 1820 in s/o Lovell & Sarah Greene Coffman of Giles Co, TN; his family history in WFT 15 d: in Also married to a Miss Lewter and Miss Meyers > .......................... +Minerva Arledge (daughter of Isaac Arledge--brother of Cyrus--and Anna Bell) b: Bet. 1823 - 1828 in Fairfield Co, SC; in 1850 listed in father's household; 1870 HOH Limestone Co, AL m: May 21, 1855 in Limestone County, Alabama d: Aft. 1869 > ................................... 4 Mary Ann Coffman b: Abt. 1858 in 1870 HOH?
