Hi Scott: This sounds like a good idea, and were it to happen, perhaps the first 4 generations could be done, with as many of the corrections, additions etc [with sources of course] be included. This would mean that a few of the girls would be carried on also, and if they link up to an existing family data base, to get it then added to that data base, with the link to Aldrich, for all to see. Just in George 1's children are 3 daughters who married and had families. You are asking for a tremendous undertaking here. Also I believe it would be prudent to ask Mrs. A. J. for permission to utilize the Aldrich Genealogy [GAG Vol 1-6]. I understand from past dialog, that she has enough material to publish Vol 7. Just that she doesn't have the funds to make it happen. I don't know what the cost would be to publish another volume, but I would like to see this done before I am no longer here to see it. Why not put our heads together to come up with something that could make Vol 7 happen, and then the NAA do a vol 8 to correct, add etc. to all 7 volumes citing the sources. Another suggestion would be to ask Mrs. AJ's permission to reprint volume 1 say in a lower cost form of printing, sell it to the various people who would like a copy, and make enough to cover the cost of printing, and also a bit more to help offset the costs of Mrs. AJ getting volume 7 done. Yes there are errors in Vol 1, but it would be at least a tool. She may have the drafts of the first volume, rather than look for a copy to "destroy", though with care, one could be unbound, used to photocopy, then rebound. This is food for thought. Let's hear some ideas on this, and please no "knocking". I further suggest that one of the "wheels" of NAA be the one to gather the ideas, and then give a report to the list on the best way or the most feasible thing to do here. The web sounds to me like an excellent idea. Perhaps we can do it and do the books too. Remeber, LDS has filmed the GAG. As to whether all 6 volumes are done, I do not know. Another suggestion is to canvas all of us to find out who has what. With this in mind, I will state what I have that can help: GAG Vol 1-5 Vital Records of Braintree, Mendon, Milford, Uxbridge, Upton, Northbridge, and many many more. I don't have a scanner, but I can copy the pages of the vitals and send them to someone who does have a scanner, and they could be then sent to the list for all to download. The only ones that present a problem are Braintree where the vitals are not separated by families, but are by dates, so it is a page to page lookup.
