Birthplace is very questionable itself. We had a good discussion few months ago on this list concerning him and Katherine. To help you and others catch up. 1. Both were NOT Quakers when they arrived in Boston in 1630 (the actual year of their arrival is between 1630 and birth of their 2nd son.) 2. George Aldrich's birth place is very like somewhere near London because of one family tale that continues to this day - Cheatham Tablets. It is located at Cheatham, Surrey, England. Now part of London. And this particular record is only one that show 1605 and showed his father as George. This is not absolute proof that this one is our George. Berkhampstead is right smack northwest of London. 3. Abel the oldest son - no record to back it up yet. 4. George and Katherine were very likely married in London area and not Derbyshire. 5. Many of the ones who came with George and Katherine came from London area. 6. Marriage record is difficult to locate because there was Great Fire of London in 1666, destroying many churches there. 7. Whether they were converted to the Society of Friends (Quaker) is debatable. The Society of Friends were not in Dorhcester/Braintree area until much later. Any Quakers before around 1675 were driven out. 8. Katherine Seald's last name is questionable since it is very very rare spelling in England. More likely Scald. Only 2 entries in the IGI for all of England and one was in Gloucestershire - backed by record and 2nd one Katherine Seald, not backed by any parish record yet. 9. Katherine's death date is accurate - The new year did not start until March 25th. The New year was changed in 1752 to Jan 1. Hence the double year before 1752. 10. The database as shown in my site is NOT all accurate and is "work in progress" and subject to corrections and additions. 11. It is well known that the GAG has many errors. That is why this list is for! To help each other with correct information. And corrections. W. David Samuelsen
