Hi All Cuz', It's been awhile since you've heard from me!! I have had sickness the the house that has taken much of my time of late.. However I did want to respond to a few questions being asked.. Mrs. A.J. Aldrich widow of A.J. who published the 6 volumes of GAG genealogies and completed the 7th , I believe, and did not get to publish it before his death, a few years ago. I have spoken with Mrs. AJ several times , and she does have many of volume 3 to 6 avaiable for sale at $50.00 each. She is presently out of Vol 1 and 2.. and yes, is sitting on an unpublished Vol 7.. However, her request for any books have all been for Vol 1 and 2.. which she has none of.. and that are NOT available elsewhere, either. as a reprint is needed! Anyone wishing her address , please contact me. She was looking into having a reprint of Vol 1 and 2.. and also would like to have Vol 7, published.. but cannot at present see her way to do so. I believe we are abt, 100 members or over on this list, and to my knowledge only 2 members have all 6 volumes. not a good average.. 1 member has 5 volumes and most of us have one or two.. I myself, need vol 2.. and would not purchase any other Vol. until I have Vol 2.. whether it's 3 or 7. :) I get letters daily from people looking for Vol 1 the most popular volume printed.. As Sec. of the NAA I know the Association does not own one volume of this series. although we were interested in purchasing the set, but without Vol ! and 2 , we opted not to, at present. How many people would be interested in Vol 7 ?? if you DO NOT have Vol 1 or 2 or thru 6????? Now be truthful!! :) Myself, I do not believe "Vol 7 " is top priority until Vol 1 and 2 are in reprint!! MY opinion ony!!!! The NAA has what we call the Ralph and Pearl Aldrich files. aka as NAA's Aldrich Gen. This is a huge file, of many updated families, some not even mentioned in AJ's books.. This data is NAA property, and we have discussed various ways to make it available to others, also. (it has errors as all Genealogies do) This is a future NAA project., and has top priorty over any other project of publishing, reprinting, or entering 6 or 7 volumes of AJ 's work in a data base.. which has already been done on Micro film, I believe??? Any list member or Aldrich descendants are welcome to join the National Aldrich Association, dues is $5.00 per year, per family. We have a yearly reunion the 3rd week of July, 1 or 2 newsletters or notices per year . We have in the past accomplished many historic projects with the dues received, as this is the only source of income. At the last annual meeting we voted to place a plaque in the Old Cemetery in Mendon, Ma. on a large boulder that is believed to be one of the two sites of George Aldrich's burial. Many people come to Mendon looking for a Marked boulder, as AJ made an error in his Vol, 1 stating there was a Marked boulder, in that cemetery , which there never was.. I have been informed this new marker will be in place in April of this year.. so now all Aldrich descendants may see and find the possible burial site of George -1; :) A story about the two burial sites is on the NAA home page as the " Mystery Story". The NAA homepage was also another decision made at the last annual meeting, the new Pres. John Aldrich opted to to this for us, after much discussion it was opted to have it strictly as a NAA homepage, and not include a data base at present.. not to say there won't be one someday. :) At present our largest Aldrich links and dta bases are to David Samuelson's home-page (also our list owner) and to the NV. Jack's, Homepage also. . I believe there maybe others?? I do believe a little article added to the NAA homepage about the often asked and copied dates of George Aldrich's birth and his father's death, which is 4 years before George was born would be an added asset to the page.. It is believed this is an error that has been carried down for generations and should be put to rest once and for all.. The parents of George Aldrich -1 are NOT George Aldrich and Joan THURGOOD. unless anyone can prove that George -1 was born before 1601. :) However, the date abt. 1605 for George -1, birth , is used religiously. I have never seen a record on either.. for many years, I used bef. 1601, as his b-date, as a deduction from his supposedly father's death.. .and was told I was wrong.. as abt. 1605 was correct??? So therefore this was most likely NOT his father. :) Can anyone add anything here..
