Thanks to Alice and Alison who sent me replies about George-1 and the liklihood that he was in Swansea for a time. It does make sense--he doesn't show up in marriage and birth records for Swansea, but, of course, all of his children were born before he went there. It is a bit odd that George didn't have a son named George. I noticed that I didn't put in the address where I found George listed with the petitioners for Swansea's township. It is a short history of Swansea at: http://www.enl.umassd.edu/InteractiveCourse/kcabral/history.htm Alice asked about my Bullock ties with Henry Bullock of Salem. My first known Bullock ancestor was Richard (1622-1667) of Rehoboth. There is "documentation" that he was the son of Henry of Salem, Edward of Dorchester, William of RI, John of Essex (sometimes Berkshire), England, and John of Shropshire, England. He was also said to be a younger brother of Henry and/or Edward plus another brother who went to Virginia. Take your choice. His son by his first marriage was Samuel. By his second marriage he had Israel, John, and Richard. So one of the Johns may have been his father. My other grandfather's ancestors also are from Bristol County, MA. John Medbury was in Swansea by 1680. My Aldrich line is George, Jacob, Moses, Caleb, William, William, and Mary Robinson Aldrich, who married my gg grandfather, John W. Medbery.
