A couple of comments: Sometimes people owned land in a place without ever living there. This could be the case here -- I don't know for sure but it certainly could be. Many times the "Proprietors" of a new town never moved there at all, etc. Regarding the name George--the Puritans usually did not use names of any of the Royal Family of England, nor did they use names of Anglican Church saints, even when they were both family names and Biblical names. There are exceptions, I know, but it wouldn't be common practice for them to do so. That may explain the lack of descendants named George. Sue
