    3. Hi all-- I'm finding that I didn't get all of my mail answered last month! Holidays were very busy!! In a message dated 97-12-30 12:37:33 EST, you write: << Hi alice and All: According to Webster's Encyclopedic Unabridged Dictionary of the English Language 1989 pg 891: Meeting house 1. a house or building for religious worship 2. a house of worship for Quakers -------The Puritans called their place of worship a meeting house too. This was not just a Quaker term. You are correct Alice: George Aldrich was not a Quaker, or at least he did not profess to be one. If he were, he's more than likely have been buried in the Quaker Cemetery then, and I very much doubt this was the case. ------I agree, no evidence that George Aldrich was a Quaker. Also, there weren't any Quakers at all in NE until sometime in the 1650's. These were Puritans who converted at the hands of Quaker missionaries. They were driven out of MA and most went to RI or places beyond. The great Quaker migration from England occurred later and was mostly to Pennsylvania area. Sue
