Hi everyone-- I am a newcomer to this list, so please forgive me if the topic(s) of this message has been discussed recently. I am seeking evidence for the supposed English origin, ancestry, and marriage of George-1 Aldrich ( -1683) of Dorchester, Braintree, and Mendon, MA. By evidence, I mean evidence from primary sources, which in this case would probably be limited to parish or probate records. Can anyone identify the evidence for the following claims? 1) George-1 Aldrich was from Derbyshire. (Please don't cite the quotation: "God brought me to America from Derbyshire...." !!) 2) He was the son of George and Joan (Thurgood) Aldrich (or of whoever). 3) George married (in England) Katherine Seald. His wife and the mother of their children was Katherine, but what is the evidence for this maiden name? (The marriage date usually given is 3 September 1629; the date implies that there is--or was--a parish marriage record, or is the date fictitious?)
