    1. [ALDRICH-L] Robinson and Aldrich

    3. My maternal grandfather's paternal grandmother was Mary Robinson Aldrich. I'm trying to figure out where the "Robinson" in her name came from. That is, I wonder if it's a given name or a name by a previous marriage. Mary's paternal line is: George, Jacob, Moses, Caleb, William, and William. Her father, William, b. bet 1780-1785 in Smithfield, RI, d. Apr 1831 in Greenfield, NY, married abt 1805 Mercy Farnum, b. abt 1789. Mary's sister, Lydia married a Henry B. Robinson. I have no data on either of them. But this shows that the Aldriches knew some Robinsons at the time. But I don't know if there were any other family links. Mary b. abt 1817 in Greenfield, NY, d. 1905 in Clinton, OK (home of both sets of my grandparents) married my great great grandfather, John W. (White?) Medbery. John was born 7 Apr 1806 in Greenfield, NY and died 16 Jan 1870 in Washington, DC (where he sometimes did business. He sold supplies to the US Army.) An interesting sideline on Mary is that I have a handwritten, signed copy of a lease where Mary rented her house and the furniture on 15 May 1864 to Phillip D. Armour for one year. It was at 477 Milwaukee St. in Milwaukee, WI and was rented for $100 monthly. I also have the brass plaque that came off of the front door of the house. I would be most interested in hearing from anyone with information about Mary Robinson Aldrich and her family. And if anyone is interested in her husband's side of the family, descendants of John Medbury (1654-1694) of Swansea, MA, I have quite a bit of information on that line.
