Also on Thursday, Clinton announced new grants by the National Science Foundation to connect an additional 29 universities to the so-called next generation Internet, bringing the total to 92 universities linked to the higher-speed network. YES YES YES Clinton also announced a new initiative, included in his fiscal 1999 budget request, to put documents from collections such as the National Archives and Smithsonian institutions on the Internet and aid other museums and libraries in putting their cultural materials on the Internet.
