    1. [ALDRICH-L] Dorchester Births?

    3. Hi everyone, In a continuing effort to weed out any undocumented data from my sketch of George-1 and Katherine (__?__) Aldrich and their family, may I ask if anyone has ever seen a citation to the birth records for their children, Joseph, Mary, and Miriam? (I won't bother to ask about Abel--I have yet to see any evidence that Abel ever existed!) Several genealogies give exact dates for the births of Joseph, Mary, and Miriam at Dorchester (in the time period 1635-1639), but I can't find their birth dates in any of the published records of Dorchester. Unless someone can come up with citations to a primary source(s), I think we have to face the possibility that one or more of these dates were "invented." The date for the birth of Joseph (4 June 1635) is particularly important in my opinion. If authentic, that is, if Joseph was born on that date in Dorchester, it would be the earliest record of his parents in America. Regards, Dave David G. White wenonah@gwis2.circ.gwu.edu
