Hi Aldrich Cuz's, Can we add to the VIP Aldrich listing on the NAA page?? Anyone finding who Dr. Aldrich is, please post it to the list, too. How about posting any VIP Aldrich, that is not already mentioned on the NAA page , and John can add 'em . Do we have any famous WOMEN Aldrich gals??? :) I am surprised not to see the famous Quaker Moses Aldrich preacher amongst the Famous below.. I'd like to see added: ******************************************************** ALDRICH MOSES: Famous Quaker Preacher Mose Aldrich was b. 1 Apr. 1690, Mendon, Ma. s/o Jacob and Huldah Thayer: d. 9 Sep. 1761 Mendon, Ma. age 71: m. Hannah White 23 Apr. 1711, Mendon, Ma. Bur, Quaker Cemetery, George St. Mendon, Ma. A Huge plaque at the entrance of the cemetery marks the site where Moses Aldrich preached many sermons. Also An inscribed marker within the cemetery, was placed at the site of Moses interment, by the Mnedon Historical Society. . Moses preached wherever Friends were settled. He preached in the colonies as far south as the Carolina's , Traveled to the the Island of Barbados, and the Bristish Isles, where he remained over 2 years, preaching the Quaker doctrine, with a dedicated spirit. He probably had no formal education but formal schooling could not have bestow the tremendous depth of his spiritual understanding and zeal. Mose was one of the Colonies better known preachers of that era. Any objections??? and can anyone add to this short history??? Posted below are the Famous from the NAA Page: Thomas Bailey Aldrich (1836--1907) Writer, born in Portsmouth, NH. He was the author of numerous short stories, novels, and books of poetry. Hello Shaun: John Aldrich sent your letter to the Aldrich List with your question, are you in the book? You may be in Vol 6 or perhaps the yet to be published Volume 7. The reason I say this is because my children appear in Vol 4. As John suggested, if you will tell us the names and dates of your parents, and your Aldrich Grandparents, I will be happy to look in 1-5 volumes of the George Aldrich Genealogy. You might be interested in knowing that there is a link to Pres. William Howard Taft, and also to the Rockefellars, i. e. Nelson Aldrich Rockefellar, who was a Vice President of the U. S. Both these men descend from George Aldrich. It is nice that you are interested in knowing if your name is in the book. I hope you will be interested enough in learning more about your ancestry, and you are at the right age to become a genealogist, as more than likely your grandparents are still living and you can ask them these questions. Please let us know where you live, and I would like to send your some data sheets which you can send out or give to your relatives and askthem to fill them out as best they can, and this is how you begin. If you have questions, please e-mail us, to the list or to us privately. I for one will be happy to help you and will try to answer your questions. I think anyone on the Aldrich list will try to help too. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Alison Alison Franks Archivist, Rawson Family Association 11th generation Aldrich too. _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. Here is a cute request I received from "It's Elrond". It is nice to know we have some young readers out there. I have replied to Shaun with the message which follows. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- From: Its Elrond <ItsElrond@aol.com> Date: Thu, 23 Apr 1998 21:49:27 EDT To: jaldrich@wsii.com Subject: am i in the book X-Mailer: AOL 3.0 for Windows 95 sub 18 my name is Shaun William Aldrich i am 12 years old and i was just wondering if i am in the book ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- Hello Shaun William Aldrich, I am very pleased to meet you. Thank you for the message. Our records of the Aldrich family are mostly about our Aldrich ancestors. If you can find out the name of your Grand Father or his father perhaps we can find them for you in our records. Most Aldrich's are related to a man named George Aldrich who came to America in the year 1631. He had seven children and most of us are descended from one of them. Tracing your family records way back can be fun! Some people like to see how far back they can go. The best way to do start is to ask as many questions from your relatives like your Grand Parents, your mom and dad and so forth. Ask them about their life when they were 12 and what they remember about their mother and dad. Where do you live Shaun? I live in the state of Rhode Island right on the coast of the Atlantic ocean. Thank you for writing to me. John Aldrich, Portsmouth RI , President, NAA National Aldrich Association Home Page: http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Marina/2343/ e-mail: jaldrich@wsii.com

Hi all, Does anyone have Aldriches in Nebraska, after 1880? Mine (William, b. 1851,wife Julia[HERRON], and children) went there from Lasalle County, Il. William's parents Charles and Isabella (PRESSLER) also went, and I believe some siblings did as well: Lewis, Benson, George??? Charles and Isabella were married in Leon, Cattaraugus Co, NY in 1842, and their children were born in NY; but I've never been able to find their family in the NY census. Thanks, Susan Penrod SusanSPO@aol.com
Delete this if you already saw the message on other list(s). Brace yourself! The Family History Library moved all of the family histories and biographies out of the library to Joseph Smith Memorial Building 4th floor West Wing. The reason is simple. Ran out of space for more new and incoming city, county, state books, etc. Most of family histories are microfilmed. However if you want to save $$ while photocoping - go to JSMB where it is 5 cent per copy. Film copy is 20 cents. The change is effective Friday 10 April 1998. W. David Samuelsen, living in Salt Lake City.
Jeanne: You don't have to go to the library - I have Douglas, MA VR's and History here at home. I have to work today, so will have a look for you later on today and let you know what I find. Yes Warren was born in Douglas as I told you. His sister, Lucinda, married Allen Stearns, and he was born in Douglas. Warren's mother Hannah Martin was b. in Douglas pg 46 10 Aug 1778 dau of Comfort and Susannah (Cummings) Martin. Comfort in Rev War. Comfort buried in Douglas Center Cemetery. Susannah d.25 Nov 1829 (church record) Douglas VR pg 181. This should keep you excited enough for now until I can give you some extra material. Note: GAG is in error - Amariah and Hannah were married in Douglas pg 77 08 Nov 1798 - GAG says 20 Nov 1797! I don't have the Lowell, MA vital records, so while you are waiting for me to get back home to work on this, see if you can find someone out there who have the Lowell, MA Vitals, ask on Northeast Roots List for information on the Aldriches. In my database , I have a Warren Aldrich 'of Lowell, Mass.' who married Harriet Barnes Stearns. Harriet was born in 1812 in Boston, Massachusetts. Does anyone know who Warren's parents were or when he was born , etc. ? I don't even have a marriage date or place for this couple. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
