DeKalb Researchers: If anyone suspects that they have an ancestor whose approved claim may be on file, I can let you know if it is among those at the National Archives. I reviewed a DeKalb County "approved case" from the Southern Loyalist Claims Commission last week. They brought me all the DeKalb files in five boxes, so I made a list of the case files in the boxes. The file that I researched provided an interesting look at DeKalb during the war years, and provided the deposition of a relative, to include a listing of her children and who they married, as well as supporting depositions of relatives and neighbors, and the amount of the claim awarded.
