My major families of interest in Dekalb County, Al include Ellis(Sulphur Springs- 1842), Painter(Sulphur Springs- 1837), Phillips(Sulphur Springs- 1837) Howell(Sulphur Springs- 1840's?), Hardman(Sand Mountain near Fort Payne- 1900), Croft(Sand Mountain near Sylvania- 1850's), Stewart(Dugout Valley-Sand Mountain near Fort Payne-1837). My area of interest is the Union Activity in DekalbCo during the Civil War(First Alabama-Tennessee Vidette Cav). I will be happy to be a resource person for the enlistees of this Cavalry.
