John Franklin is found in the 1850 DekalbCo., AL census. He is listed as being 80 years old and born in Virginia. His wife is Mary, 66 years old and born in Kentucky. Living with them is a Joseph Aseberry(Ashberry), 17 years old and born in Alabama. I am searching for the maiden name for this Mary. The only Ashberry connection I can determine, other than the Joseph, is that a William Ashberry and a John Franklin both entered land in Jackson County, Al in adjacent sections in 1831. A John Franklin is found in the 1840 DekalbCo., Census. Any additional information on this family would be appreciated.
Does anyone have any information regarding Joseph Lusk, born 1832 (location unknown) died approximately 1900 in DeKalb County, Al? I have him listed in the 1860 census as a farmer in the northern end of the county. This fits with a description of my great-great-grandfather; then again, so does information I've found from land patents on a Josiah Lusk, of Lebanon. Were they possibly the same person, with a mispelled first name in records? Is it possible that one was the father or brother to the other? Anyone with information on these folks, or suggestions on how to obtain it, please e-mail me. Thank you, Dave Lusk

I am sorry. I did not mean to send the poem to the group. My daughter's address is next to this one and I got this address by mistake. It is a good poem for us but I know this sort of thing doesn't go to the list. researching in Dekalb Co Brock Maxwell Cuzzort Ward Maxine

In a message dated 98-10-16 20:17:29 EDT, you write: << am searching for any information on the parents or siblings of Nancy M. Wilson, b. apr 1821 in TN or AL, m. 13 April 1838 to Jonathan Sitz (Seitz) in Dekalb Co. AL, d. 1900-1910. I have had no success with this line. There was a Susan Wilson who married Jonathan Sitz's brother Andrew Sitz. A sibling of Nancy's? >> I have some WILSON's in my database but none match the above. Maybe someone else may be able to help. Regards, Tim
I am searching for any information on the parents or siblings of Nancy M. Wilson, b. apr 1821 in TN or AL, m. 13 April 1838 to Jonathan Sitz (Seitz) in Dekalb Co. AL, d. 1900-1910. I have had no success with this line. There was a Susan Wilson who married Jonathan Sitz's brother Andrew Sitz. A sibling of Nancy's? I suspect, (although I have no proof) that there is some relationship between Nancy M. Wilson and Elijah Wilson, b. abt 1805 in TN or KY, who married Jane F. McBrayer. In 1840 and 1850 he is in DeKalb Co. AL, in 1860 and 1870 he is in Walker Co. AL, 1880 Winston Co. AL, and 1900 he is in Indian Territory OK. His second wife was Malinda, they are together in 1880 census. Elijah had 2 brothers, John and Isaac, but nothing is known of them. Some other possible leads are that Nancy was related to Hezekiah Wilson who was in the Blount\Dekalb Co. area in 1820 and 1830's. One of the sons of Jonathan and Nancy Wilson Sitz, was Andrew Hezekiah Sitz. (Jonathan's father was Andrew Sitz and it's possible that the "Hezekiah" came from Hezekiah Wilson, Nancy's father perhaps?) Also, I have been told that an individual named Joseph Wheeler Wilson was of the same Wilson family as Nancy. Unfortunately I don't have a clue to where or when he lived. Any information will be very much appreciated. B.L. Sitz

I am reading a book, "All but the shoutin'" by Rick Braggs. It is a memoir of growing up poor in Calhoun Co. Brings back many childhood memories and is honestly and grittingly written. I am truly enjoying it. Lou Cook
Is there anyone who could do a lookup for me on the 1840 & 1850 DeKalb Co AL censuses? I am looking for Hyrum John McMICKEN and Jane, and hopefully their children. In 1840 I thnk they were in the Browning District. Thanks 10 million! Mary Bryant Park crosstich@webtv.net
