I felt that since he was in th timber business following the war that he may have done something related to that. I felt there must be some kind of paperwork indicating something--even if he paid someone to serve on his behalf. I would appreciate any help you are able to provide on him or his father, Emanuel Bruton/Brewton, born 1801 in georgia. Emanuel last shows up in the 1840 census and has a child born around 1847. I feel it's possible he served in the Mexican or some military conflict prior to 1850. Hope you can find something to help.
