Horton, 69, a resident of Grove Hill, formerly of Leroy, died July 28, 2006 in Jackson. He was employed with Bruister & Associates/Direct TV. A member of Worldwide Church of God and Amateur Radio Club, he loved working and spending time with his family and helping those in need. Survivors include his wife, Joan Shepard Horton of Grove Hill; son, John Shepard Horton of Northport; two grandchildren, Collin and Nicholas Horton of Northport; a twin sister, Betty Smith of Chatom; two brothers, Coma Horton of Grove Hill and Jerry Horton of Jackson. The graveside service was July 30 at Pine Grove United Methodist Cemetery in Leroy with the Rev. Bobby Smith officiating and Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directing.
