Dear Mr. Smothers, My name is James Ralph Jordan, Jr. My father, James Ralph (Shug) Jordan, Sr. was a native son of Selma, Alabama, Born there on September 27, 1910. I'm trying to learn more about my fathers lineage, particularly the Alabama component. His mothers name was Katherine Darby, the daughter of William Darby and Mary Elizabeth Dietz. My fathers father was James H. Jordan, an employee of Southern Railroad, who migrated from West Virginia around 1900. I have traced my grandfathers lineage in West Virginia, but know very little about my grand mothers family in Dallas County.
