I just joined this list and want to list my surnames from Dallas County that I am researching. They are, as follows: Weisinger, Pierce, Grumbles and Garrett. My GGG-Grandfather, John Mason Garrett, b. 3/6/1805 in SC, married Sarah Marshall Grumbles, Daughter of Benjamin Grumbles and Keziah Pierce of Dallas County, on 1/10/1828 in Dallas County, AL?. Dates are from family bible of John M. Garrett, location of marriage not confirmed. They had the following children: Nancy b. 11/9/1828; James b.6/2/1830; Francis Elizabeth b. 5/5/1832; William Mason b. 8/18/1834; and an infant b.&d. 5/8/1848. Sarah M. died in Aug. 1849 in AL or AR. John M. and children were in Union County, AR by 1850 census report. John Jacob Weisinger b. 12/5/1810 in SC, first married Permelia Ann Graves, daughter of Davenport Graves & Nancy McElroy of Dallas County, abt 1835. They had a son, Thomas F. b. 1837 and a daughter, Nancy E. b. abt 1839. Permelia died of typhus fever abt. 1840 along with her mother Nancy Graves. In mid 1840's John J. along with his two small children and his aged parents left Dallas County and went by boat, from Mobile to New Orleans and upriver from New Orleans to the Ouachita River and landed at Champagnolle Landing, Union County, AR. On Feb. 19, 1854 John J. married Francis Elizabeth Garrett, dau. of John M. and Sarah Garrett in Union County, AR. They were married by John Grumbles, J.P. also from Dallas County. They had the following children: Franklin Pierce b. Nov. 1854; Mary Louisa b. Mar., 1859; John R. b. 9/18/1859; Ellen b. 1863. John R. had a twin brother William who died at birth.
