Francis AVANT was born ca.1775-1790 in Marion County, SC(or nearby county) He married Elizabeth CASE ca. 1808-1809. Elizabeth CASE is the daughter of John & Lucy CASE. Offspring of the couple are: Catherine M. Avant, b. 1810 who m. David D. Dumas; Mary Avant b. bef 1814 who m. James Downes; Nancy Ann Avant b.15 Jan 1815 who married John G. O'Neal; Lucy T. Avant b. ca. 1818 who married William H. Hall; Nathan T. Avant b. 1820 who married Theodocia Wilson and John C. Avant b. 1822 who married Nancy D. Meredith. I am seeking information on Francis AVANT's parentage. Believe him to be the son of John AVANT who was the son of Jonathan AVANT who was the son of Caleb AVANT. Looking for confirmation. Francis AVANT died before 1828 leaving his widow, his oldest daughter and his other 5 minor children. At some point between John C. Avant's birth (youngest child) and 1828 the family left Marion County, SC and made their way to Dallas County, AL. I find court records of Elizabeth CASE AVANT having a guardian appointed for the minor children when she remarried a Charles LEOPARD ca. 1827./1828. Seeking information that would pinpoint Frances AVANT's death date and estate. Also seeking more information on this Charles LEOPARD that Elizabeth (Francis Avant's widow) married. They had two children William and Charles born in Dallas County, AL ca. 1828-1832. The two Avant son's Nathan and John moved to south Arkansas and I believe so did Lucy and her husband William Hall. Later the two half-brothers, William and Charles Leopard joined their Avant half-brothers in Arkansas. Suggestions and information welcome. Will share what information I have on his descendants.
