    1. [ALDALLAS-L] Sons of Elizabeth Woods Reed (Reid)
    2. I'm searching for information about/any clues concerning three sons of Elizabeth Woods Reed/JosiahReed. Elizabeth Woods and Josiah Reed arrived in Dallas County ca 1818 from Kentucky, and married shortly thereafter. They had the following children: Cynthia Lorain (b 1825), James Edward (b ca 1827), William Luther (b ca 1828), Martha Elizabeth (b ca 1831), Emily Jane (b ca 1833), and three others sons, Cyrus Byers, Finis Ewing and John. Cynthia and James Edward went "west" in 1847, and settled in Louisiana. William Luther also went west in 1847, but returned to Dallas County the following year. Martha Elizabeth married H.H. Harrison in Dallas County in 1855. Emily married David Russell, and remained in Dallas County, at least until 1870. What happened to William Luther, Cyrus, Ewing, and John? Cyrus was living in the household of his cousin Margaret Isabella Woods Houston, in Bibb County, in 1870? But what happened to him afterward? Were William Luther, Cyrus, Finis Ewing and John in the Confederate army? Were William Luther or John or Ewing killed during 1861-1865? Their father, Josiaha Reed, died, probably in 1849-1850; his will was probated in 1850. Their mother, Elizabeth Woods Reed, died on 3 July 1867, age 68; she was buried in the Lenabon (Mt Vernon) Cemetery, near Summerfield. The estate documents of Elizabeth Reed named as heirs only Cyrus Byers, Emily Russell, Martha Harrison, and the children of Cynthia Armstrong and James Edward Woods, both dead by 1867. What happened to these Reed sons -- William Luther, Finish Ewing, John, apparently dead by 1867? And what happened to Cyrus Byers after 1870? Any clues or hints or records would be greatly appreciated. I am glad to share a sizeable Reed/Woods file. Thank you, Robert E. Parrott, Knoxville TN.
