NC, signed 25 June l792/3 (not clear writing).( from Salisbury Court records). Lists 3 sons: Joel, Ganaway &( John -under age). dau's, Martha, Mary, Elizabeth, Obedience and Fanny. Wife : Rachel.. Leaves land in Rockingham,Co.,NC.Then Joel Johnston Will: pro. Nov. l834. Guilford,Co.NC Lists sons James,Joel, Ganaway and John -dau. Polly. A Johnson ( These two Wills: both have a Ganaway as sons. Joel of course must have been the Joel Johnston in the Will of his father John Johnston l793, Rockingham,C.NC . The other Ganaway ,son of Joel is the other). Gannaway Johnson in l800 -census,Spartanburg city, could have been the Ganaway listed in father John Johnston's Will, l793)Next- In l830's Ganaway Johnson listed as a pioneer settler in Cobb Co.,Ga. Gannaway Johnson 12-19-l933 pneumonia- Fathers name- Wilson Johnson, mothers name- Lokie Southern .In l920 census he had a grandson age 10- named Ganaway Johnson. I do not know how Wilson Johnson is connected to Ganaway Johnson . Also in l860 census Cobb Co.Ga. is listed James Jackson age 47 b.Ga.; wife Priscilla age 50 son Ganaway age 14. -maybe Joel's daughter "Polly" married James Jackson? I noted that in Rowan court records: -Salisbury,NC. year l787 Thomas Johnson served on Jury.Also Thomas Johnston l787 two times on Jury). My grandfather Charles Henry Johnson born Dec. l849 , son of Ganaway Johnson and Lurany or Lou Rainey Vines had no other information about his parents, he was reared in homes of Hugh Dickson and Adline Johnson Dickson and Mose and Adelaide Johnson Phillips in Lafayette,Co.
