Norris of Dallas and Perry Co., AL, appears to have a connection to the family of William Hutchinson Norris (probably a brother) that lived in Dallas Co., AL, Monroe Co., AL and later moved to Brazil, South America. William Hutchinson Norris is the son of William Norris and Nancy Watkins. The earlier William Norris died 1844, Harris Co., GA. Some notes to support this relationship: 1. Chambers Co., AL Deed Bk 10, pg 213-214: Josiah E. Norris and his wife, Mary A. Norris, both residents of Dallas Co., AL, sold land in Chambers Co., AL to William Adams, Sec 26 Twp 23 Rng 25 on 17 Jan 1851. (There is no evidence that this couple actually lived in Chambers Co.) Owning property just a short distance away were Harris F. Norris, John M. Norris, William H. Norris with Young R. Norris. J.E. Norris received this property in 1838, about the same time that other sons of William Norris and Nancy Watkins came to the county. 2. Search the Perry Co., AL, BLM Website and it will show that Josiah E. Norris owned property in Sec 3 Twp 16 Rng 6 in 1835. William H. Norris owned property in the same section, township and range in 1835. Rigdon Norris and William H. Norris together recieved property in the same twp and range but in section 33 in 1837. This Josiah E. Norris may be the missing son of William Norris and Nancy Watkins that was called Elom (Elam) on several early documents in Jasper Co., GA (before 1820). I do not know what become of this family after 1860. Many members of the collateral family moved west. Teresa
